There are challenges along the way and that’s what makes the Trek highly exciting to undergo. Along with you, there would be several more such trekkers who undergo this Trek at all times in a Year. The most dominant Attraction during this Journey is the Summit of the Kedarkantha Peak which is simply majestic. It’s covered with snow at most times of the Year and the scenery that the peak lies in is beautiful to watch. No doubt, why there is so much excitement for this Trek.\n\nAs said this Journey can be taken by Trekkers during all 4 Seasons namely spring, summer, winter, and autumn. Every Season puts together a unique aspect and builds this Trek to be highly successful of its value. There are three most accepted routes for this Trek however the safest and widely used one is that which starts from the Base Village of Sankri. This village serves as the basic campsite for All Trekkers and houses most of the facilities that are accessible before the start of the Trek. However to reach Sankri, One has to drive from Dehradun all the way which is the starting point in the Itinerary. The drive from Dehradun to Sankri is 180 kilometres approximately and usually takes about 7 – 8 Hours. \n\nThe Drive from Dehradun starts towards the early morning so that one can reach Sankri by evening comfortably. The general attitude of this Trek remains at a height of 10000-12000 feet and gets higher upwards. During The Drive from Dehradun to Sankri, one will view mountains, valleys, ridges, hills, waterfalls, and Cities along the Way. The road starts ascending slowly as it paves its way upwards to join the hills in its further conquest of the Journey. The Forests of Pine, Oak, and Chestnut Trees are seen in regular intervals. These forests are sometimes in a cluster as seen or sometimes appear separately. There are Jungles of thickets of Pine trees on both sides of the hilly slopes. The Yamuna River aces itself along with us as a companion throughout the Drive to Sankri. The most amazing part at some points in this drive is when the Yamuna River flows past on a very similar level as to the Expressway and it feels as if the River is running on a competition along with your Vehicle. Although the Expressway is located on the outer side of the cities, yet as the drive goes along, many travelers can see the sparkling hill stations of Mussorie and Nainital that busts full of activity and covers the hills that lie beyond it. After having a long time staying inside the vehicle and with the sun soaring past the sky, Time would call for lunch, and what better place to have it than the Drive-in Motels located along the way. These Motels are usually situated on the cliff and showers a view of the entire Valley beneath which provides a soothing environment for Lunch. The Journey Ahead is characterized by small settlements or hamlets sparsely located in clusters. The Yamuna fragments into the Tons River, a small tributary that diverts somewhere near Sankri to go to its origin. Before Sankri, There are 2 Important Settlements of Mori and Purola that come on the way. These settlements are important as they house small centers that can be of medical assistance in need of mild tissue or Bone based injuries. The settlements also are the last points where ATMs can be found. Usually, Trekkers stop by here to fulfill their needs before getting on Foot. The Village of Sankri is located just on the eastward side of the little hill that bends around the Ridge Supporting it. After such a long Drive the feet will be moist and one can expect a great Dinner and Adequate Rest for the Next Day of Adventure Laden Trek to move ahead. \n\nThe second day of the Trek involves climbing and walking at separate durations. The ascent is gradual at starting and continues along till we reach Juda ka Talab, a small hamlet-based settlement. There would be a plethora of Streams that originate from the small Talab located at a higher altitude. These streams intersect each other and flow past the trails. The way ahead takes one towards Small Shades of thick forests that mostly contain coniferous Trees of Deciduous Vegetation. The atmosphere around is pristine. The sound of crunched leaves with movements of water trickling in streams nearby leads to a feeling of Relaxation in the Mind. There are squirrels and mountain hares to give the trekkers company as they walk past them. Sometimes these small rodents are seen sitting on branches of the Tree quietly watching fellow trekkers carry on their walk. There are small suspension logs that are directed on these streams to help the Trekkers to move ahead. Usually, such routes involve physical crossing with the help of tight boots, here there are such small bridges that are put before to make it easy to cross. There is an open grassland ahead of these forests which houses small villages containing low-lying tainted huts. The occupation practiced by the settlers here is mainly Agriculture and Grazing along with Fisheries. After walking past some distance of these segments of the Land, Juda ka Talab Lake is seen providing Trekkers with their reflection from a Long Distance. It provides sheer comfort to these Trekkers after having trekked the Day. The Talab is small and beautiful. The greenish grassland located on all four corners of the lake is soft to sit upon and provides relaxation. The sun would now be towards the east and after a long tiring day, it would be time for evening snacks and Rest. \n\nThe third day of the Trek will take us nearer to the summit. The base camp of the Kedarkantha Peak is four kilometers north of Juda ka Talab. The ascent has now touched altitudes of 9000 Ft and the excitement along the trip comes along. The route ahead usually has some inclination from the one at Talab. There are mixed jungles of pine and oak trees ahead. These forests have plenty of wood that is sometimes used for making pieces of equipment and small goods. The forests have trees that are properly arranged and are manicured. Trekkers can feel the wilderness intact as they enter this range of Forests. Towards the land when these forests dampen in number and the Meadows are found, one can find multiple clearings that are located towards the east and westward side of these Mountains. In seasons like in May or June, there are cattle or small sheep that can be found grazing on these lands. The meadows are usually open lands that have low tainted vegetation, sometimes that’s mostly composed of scrubs or low–lying herbs. These meadows are adorned by valleys that cover the Mountains ahead of them. Two Famous peaks, The Kala Nag and Bandarpoonch can be seen in some distance. These peaks are laden with snow during winters and most of the seasons except in June when the temperature is high. These mountains can be seen in a very near view providing such a great feeling. It’s like walking on a road with the mountain situated at a diameter around you. The view of these peaks is stunning and is very dominant. The sky around this time of the day will be covered with clouds that are sparsely situated close to each other. The mountains later gradually hold on to each other folding on to each other while a set of hills overshadow them as the walk takes us to their lesser heightened peaks. These meadows are what lies in the route for some time until there come several low-lying valleys that eventually turn out wrapping each other. The Kedarkantha base is few miles away from these landforms and by the time evening arrives, one will be there. The base camp appears on a highly located cliff that serves as the main campsite before trekkers embark on the route to the Peak. The campsite appears crowded at times however plenty of space has as it is a flat-lying space cushioned by hills on all Sides. After an amazing trek ease to the comfort of your Tents and rejuvenates yourself with fond memories of the day. \n\nAfter three amazing days of A Trek Journey, the caravan of this Journey moves forward to the most exciting day, when the trekkers eventually find out to witness the beautiful and enchanting Peak. After having a pleasant breakfast in the brilliance of the sun soaring above, it would be time to start the Trek. From the base camp, the peak would be about 2.5 Kilometres and will take around Three to Four Hours to reach. Starting early is essential as by mid-afternoon it becomes necessary to start the descent to the base of the Hargaon Camp. The descent by mid-afternoon becomes evident due to safety concerns. The route initially remains at the same altitude as it was earlier. There are forests, large open areas of grasslands, and some gurgling streams. The Forests display a variety of trees that cheer the travelers. There are trees of mulberry found towards the upper end of the Valleys. The diversity of trees found in these forests startle everyone. The Sunrays reach towards the bottom of these shades of forestry and the view around looks stunning. It Defines Nature and feels pristine. Alongside trees like Pine, Oak and Chestnut there are other trees like deodar and other mountain shrubs that look beautiful. These forests are deep and revitalize the mind. They are immersive at times and form clusters. They are home to several mountain birds that breathe life out of their Trees. Many streams pass by these clearings on the ends of the Forests. The streams on this day are not seen on the forefront yet busts about a lot of activity. The sound of Streams, birds with the aroma of these beautiful trees in dense shades of forestry feels like Magic and is worthwhile to pass by. The forests dominate the land space in a major segment of the Hike upwards. Soon the Inclination starts to get steep and this is among those times when the flexibility of the body is needed to be good. Alongside the eastward end of the Forests that lead to the Peak, few rocks are unevenly placed and one needs to walk them up with their boots holding the rocks firmly. The Major area ahead of these rocks is the Peak. The rocks form a tunnel-like shape ahead of which lies the Peak\n\nA true Magnificent Landform, this peak soars above the ground at an altitude of 12,500 Feet. Get ready to embrace the beauty of the Peak as none like other. The scenery of the summit of the peak is stupendous and it reflects the beauty of the entire Upper Himalayas. There is a temple dedicated to Lord Shiva, Lord Ganesh, and Goddess Parvati which is visited by all the Trekkers thanking for such an amazing adventure. With the sun overhead and the beauty of the mountain at its prime, Lunch Time approaches. Trekkers continuously stare charmingly at the magnificence of the peak while also shouting themselves on top of India as loud as one can hear. The descent to Hargaon starts after lunch and the route is clear. It is marked by forests and follows a shorter route. The inclination here is slightly steep however that helps in the descent. One should reach Hargaon completely by Evening. \n\nThe Final Day of the Trek takes us from Hargaon to Sankri with the view of the amazing peak imprinted on our Brains. It was so amazing and the walk back is filled with these nostalgic memories we start in the early morning and the Trek would take around 4 hours to reach. The area is dominated by forests mostly and a few steep ridges. Holding on to those rocks helps firmly in the descent. The ridge later leaves the trail behind while trekkers explore the greenish grasslands of Har Ki Dun or the so-called Valley of Gods. The area is covered by Green Slopes and it sits firmly with layers of land colored by Green. It’s a rare beauty and sometimes can make one feel delusional.
