The Hamta Pass was named after the Hampta village. Shepherds and villagers use this trek to reach the Himachal Pradesh valley of Lahaul Spiti. Since it is the simplest of all the treks in Himachal Pradesh, this trek is also referred to as a beginner's trek. Hamta Pass is a high mountain pass located in the Pir Panjal Range of the Himalayas in the Kullu district of Himachal Pradesh, India. The pass connects the Kullu and Lahaul valleys which is a popular trekking route. It is located about 40 kilometers (25 mi) from Manali. At 14,000 feet, Himachal Pradesh's Hampta Pass is one of the Himalayas' rare and dramatic pass crossings. On one side of the trail is the lush green valley of Kullu, with forest areas, grasslands, and flowers blooming. On the other side is Lahaul's almost arid, stark landscape, with barren mountains and little vegetation. The trek takes you through enchanting meadows, lush green forests, snow-capped mountains, and crystal-clear rivers. Along the way, you will cross some of the most picturesque villages and enjoy the amazing views of the Deodar forests. You will also get the opportunity to explore the majestic Chandra River and witness the majestic snow-covered peaks of the Pir Panjal Range. You can spend the night in the lap of nature and enjoy the breathtaking views of the Himalayan peaks.\n\nHow to reach the location?\nThere are many ways to reach Manali, which is a popular tourist destination in India. \nThe most common mode of transportation to reach Manali is the road. Many buses ply to and from Manali from different parts of the country. The journey by bus is very comfortable and takes around 10-12 hours to reach Manali from Delhi. \nThe other way to reach Manali is by air. The Kullu Manali airport in Buntar is well-connected to all the major cities of India. The flight takes around 2-3 hours to reach Manali from Delhi. \nThe third way to reach Manali is by rail. The nearest railway station to Manali is Joginder Nagar, which is about 100 km away.


Itinerary-

Day 1:
Reporting to Manali's Rumsu Base Camp.

Day 1: Reporting to Manali's Rumsu Base Camp.\nThe itinerary's first day is reserved for rest and acclimatization. One must board a bus from Delhi to Manali by 6 PM to arrive at base camp on time. Take the "Patli-kuhal" exit 20 kilometers before Manali. There are numerous transportation options from Patlikuhal to Rumsu village [11 km]. [Sumo costs 700 INR, while a small car costs 500 INR]\nOnce in Rumsu village, take the trail that leads to the base camp.\nMembers will register at Base Camp before heading out on an Acclimatization walk. After the walk, the participants will receive trekking poles and overnight bags.


Day 2:
A Drive to Hamta Dam, then a hike to Chikka

At 8 a.m., we will begin the day's trek with a scenic drive from Rumsu to Hamta Dam. The easy hike to Chikka starts at Hamta Dam. It takes about 2-3 hours to complete. Two wooden bridges and a brief area of the forest must be passed through before you arrive at the campsite. Chikka has large rock boulders and a beautiful waterfall, as well as an excellent opportunity for riverside camping. At Chikka, spend the night in a tent.


Day 3:
Chikka to Balu ka Ghera

We will begin our trek to Balu Ka Ghera after breakfast. The trek from Chikka to Balu ka Ghera takes about 5 to 6 hours and ascends to an elevation of 11,900 feet. The first part of the trek follows the right bank of the Hamta River, passing a few rock boulders. There is a stream to cross on the way, followed by a three-hour trek to Balu Ka Gera. Balu ka Ghera is a huge plain terrain on the river's bank, and camping here is a dream come true. From here, one can see Indrasan, Manali's highest peak. Camping for the night at Balu Ka Ghera.


Day 4:
From Balu ka Ghera to Shia Ghoru

Today's trek begins early because we want to cover as much snow as possible before sunrise. The trek route ascends moderately, climbing more than 14,000 feet, from Balu Gehra to Shia Ghoru. The trek is relatively long and begins at 5 a.m. from Balu ka Gera. The Hamta Pass's summit can be reached in 4 to 5 hours. The Hamta Pass offers breathtaking aerial views of the Spiti valley. We'll then make our way down from Hamta top to Shia Ghoru. Shia Ghoru can sometimes be reached by sliding down the steep descent when there is plenty of snow. Shia Goru is where you'll spend the night.


Day 5:
Shia Ghoru to Chandrataal to Chatru

After breakfast, we will begin our three-hour trek to Chatru. We will take vehicles from Chatru to the magnificent Chandrataal lake. The ride takes you to one of India's most famous high-altitude roads, which connects Manali and Kaza. One of the most beautiful views of a lake in the Spiti valley is Chandrataal, with its crystal-clear water and surrounding deserted mountains. Participants will return all of the borrowed equipment while receiving their deposited luggage at Chatru. Stay at Chatru for the night.


Day 6:
Jeep ride from Chatru to the Manali bus terminal

After breakfast, we will begin our journey to Manali via the Atal Tunnel. We will arrive in Manali by 1 pm.\nWhen purchasing return bus tickets, reserve a Volvo after 7 PM from Manali to allow extra time in case of traffic while traveling down to Manali.
